What we recommend around the farm
We live here. These are the outings we love, the wedding venues we know and the addresses where we shop ourselves. For anything else, just ask us.
For shopping, eating well and being served
Bread, meat and markets to cook at home, a caterer for big tables, two restaurants for going out: the addresses we use ourselves, the ones we would give to friends.
Bakery
Boulangerie Fricque, 1 place du 53e RICMS, in Airaines: our address for bread and croissants. Closed on Mondays.
Supermarket and drive-through
E.Leclerc in Pont-Rémy, 29 rue Jean-Moulin, five minutes by car, with a drive-through: order before you leave home, collect on arrival.
Markets
Abbeville, under the covered market on place Jacques-Becq, Thursday and Saturday from 7.30 am to 1.30 pm. Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, Sunday morning on the quays.
Butcher
Maison Pégard, 5 rue Aristide-Briand, in Airaines: butcher and delicatessen, meats and home-made charcuterie.
Caterer
L'Atelier Gourmand, 11 rue de Paris, in Épagne-Épagnette, a stone's throw from the house: dishes and buffets for big tables.
Restaurant
Le Saltimbanque, Sébastien Porquet's inn at the foot of the windmill in Eaucourt-sur-Somme, a few minutes away: Picardy cooking from local producers, a table we truly love. Book ahead.
Restaurant in Saint-Riquier
The café-restaurant de l'Abbaye in Saint-Riquier: from the street it looks like a simple village café. In the back room, recently refurbished, you eat genuinely delicious food, and Anthony, the owner, is a delight. One of our favourite addresses, to combine with a visit to the abbey.

The Somme two kilometres away, the bay in thirty minutes
Eight outings we recommend, from the nearest to the furthest. In the heart of the Somme valley, Liercourt is an ideal base for cycling, hiking, nature and history.
Pont-Rémy, the Somme and its cycle route
The Somme valley cycle route runs through Pont-Rémy, the next village: our morning walk, on foot or by bike, along the river, the ponds and the marshes, without taking the car. For cyclists, it follows the Somme towards Abbeville and the bay one way, towards Amiens the other.
Fishing
For anglers, the Somme, its ponds and marshes are a paradise: carp, pike, zander and coarse fish. Get a day or week permit, and bring your own tackle.
Abbeville
Our town for shops and the market. Stop by the Saint-Vulfran collegiate church and the Boucher-de-Perthes museum.
Saint-Riquier
The royal abbey is worth the detour, and so is its music festival every summer. From Abbeville, cycle there along the Traverse du Ponthieu greenway, 10 km.
Saint-Valery-sur-Somme and Le Crotoy
Our classic day out: the quays, the upper town, the little steam train of the bay and the beaches.
The seals of the bay
Not to be missed: nature outings on foot or by canoe to watch the largest seal colony in France, timed with the tides.
Marquenterre park
For bird lovers: the reserve on the edge of the bay, to explore on foot. Bring binoculars.
The gardens of Valloires
Our favourite for a quiet afternoon: the Cistercian abbey and its English-style gardens above the Authie valley.
Getting married in the Somme?
Our advice to couples: put your guests up at the farm, a few minutes from the finest reception venues in the area. Up to 18 people under one roof, a shared breakfast and a relaxed departure the next day, at a time agreed together. We know these venues well, just ask.
